Start to finish cook time: 20 minutes (5 pressurizing + 5 high pressure + 6 depressurize + 5 ice bath)
Effort Level: Low Servings: 4-12 eggs
As someone who loves deviled eggs but ALWAYS failed at hard boiling them, I was super excited to discover how well Instant Pot cooks eggs. I used to have to have my husband hard boil for me, but now he asks me to do them using my IP!
I've tried a few different attempt at this, before settling on what I call the perfect mix that I call the 5-5-6-5 method. It's 5 minutes of pressurizing, 5 minutes of cooking, 6 minutes of natural pressure release, and 5 minutes ice bath. They end up perfectly light yellow in the middle and the shells peal off so easily compared to my attempts on stovetop. I love to use these chopped up in salads or you can even eat as is with just a bit of sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.
If you want to jump straight to the recipe, no need to keep scrolling it's right below. If you want step-by-step pictures though, I've included those below the recipe. And as my Chef husband says, "Food is love". Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 6-12 eggs
- 1 cup of water
- Garnish
- Dash of sea salt
- Ground pepper
- Devil them if your fancy
- Insert trivet into Instant Pot and fill with 1 cup water (top of trivet should sit above water).
- Add your eggs on to trivet, you can use as little or as many as you want (trivet can fit up to 12).
- Seal your Instant Pot and set to high pressure for 5 minutes. Be sure to select high pressure, if it's on low it will not cook enough. Make sure the steam vent is in the sealed position.
- Allow for 6 minute pressure release and prepare an ice bath of water for the eggs.
- Please eggs in ice bath for 5 minutes.
- Peel eggs and enjoy, shells should just fall off and yolk should be a nice light yellow.
