Effort Level: Low
Servings: 4-5
This recipe is so easy you could throw it on before the shower and have ready to eat before leaving the house in the morning. I like to make in the beginning of the week and then I have a few servings to eat in the morning throughout the week. It's significantly cheaper than buying instant oatmeal packs, buying one large container of oats can last you a really long time.
Chef's secret ingredient suggestion: honey. It adds a certain kind of natural sweetness. I already added more sugar than I had wanted to, so the honey makes for a little less guilt.
If you want to jump straight to the recipe, no need to keep scrolling it's right below. If you want step-by-step pictures though, I've included those below the recipe. And as my Chef husband says, "Food is love". Enjoy!
- 1 Gala apple, pealed and sliced into small squares
- 1 1/4 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp regular sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 tsp honey
- Peel apple, removing skin. Slice, removing core. Chop into 1-2 inch squares.
- Add apple, oatmeal, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and water to your Instant Pot.
- Set to high pressure for 10 minutes, allowing for 7 minutes to pressurize.
- Once done, quick release pressure.
- Add honey, stir, and let sit for 4 minutes before eating (letting it sit will absorb remaining liquid, don't worry still will be hot at serving).
